Play Lode Runner 3-D (E) Online
You dig holes to trap robot pursuers in blocky 3D levels, climbing ladders and figuring out which walls can be blasted through—awkward camera and all.

Lode Runner 3-D came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed by Big Bang. It was part of that wave of early 3D platformers and puzzle games that tried to translate classic 2D ideas into a new dimension. The N64 had a lot of experimental titles around that time, and this was one that took a familiar concept and rebuilt it from the ground up.
You control a runner who must collect all the gold in each level while avoiding enemy robots. Your main tool is a laser that can blast holes in certain floors; these holes temporarily trap the robots, giving you time to move or climb ladders to higher platforms. The game involves careful exploration of multi-tiered stages, planning routes, and figuring out which blocks are destructible. The pace is methodical, and the challenge comes from timing your digs and outsmarting the enemy patterns. It feels like a tense game of spatial awareness and quick decisions, even with the occasionally clumsy camera angles.
