Play Lord Of The Rings - Conquest, The Online
You pick Gondor or Mordor and swipe your way through messy battles—hacking as warriors, sniping as archers, or even wrecking stuff as a troll. The stylus combat feels odd at first, but soon you're lost in Middle-earth chaos.

Lord of the Rings: Conquest on the Nintendo DS came out in 2009, developed by Pandemic Studios. It was part of that wave of handheld adaptations trying to bring console-style action to a smaller screen, and it definitely had its own take on the license. The DS was full of inventive games around that time, but this one went for straightforward combat in the Lord of the Rings universe.
You control soldiers from either Gondor or Mordor, fighting through levels that recreate battles from the films. The main objective is to capture command points by defeating enemy troops and holding areas. Signature mechanics include switching between warrior, archer, scout, and mage classes on the fly, each with unique attacks, and using the stylus for special moves and targeting. The pacing is fast, with respawns keeping you in the action, though the difficulty can spike during larger enemy waves. It feels like a chaotic, simplified version of a bigger war, where you are just one part of the fray.
