Lost in Blue 2 came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, published by Konami. You control one of two characters, a boy or a girl, who are shipwrecked together. The main goal is to survive long enough to find a way off the island. A lot of the game is spent managing basic needs; you have to constantly find food and fresh water, build shelter, and start fires using the touchscreen to rub sticks together or strike flint. Exploration is done screen by screen, uncovering the island's different biomes and secrets. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, because everything takes effort and resources are scarce. It feels tense and absorbing, like every small success is a genuine victory against the environment.
