Low G Man came out on the NES in 1990, published by Taxan. It was one of those late-era action games that tried to do something a little different with the hardware, focusing on methodical, screen-by-screen progression instead of pure run-and-gun chaos. You control a soldier sent to a factory planet overrun by hostile machines, and the goal is to shut down the alien operation.
You play as the titular Low G Man, navigating through tightly designed levels one screen at a time, clearing all enemies to proceed. Your main tool is a beam sword for close combat, but you can also find and upgrade secondary weapons like a spread gun. The defining mechanic is your low-gravity jump pack, which lets you make long, floaty leaps to cross gaps or avoid attacks. The pacing is deliberate, almost puzzle-like, as you figure out enemy patterns and the safest routes. It feels like a careful, tactical dance rather than a frantic shootout.
