Game Overview

Ever wanted to know what it feels like to squeeze off perfect shots on an SNES? M.A.C.S. Basic Rifle Marksmanship [b] is basically a digital shooting range—no explosions, no aliens, just you and a grid of targets. At first, I thought it’d be boring, but there’s something weirdly intense about holding your breath (yes, you actually have to time your shots between breaths) and trying not to flinch when the crosshair drifts.

The targets start simple, then throw curveballs like distance changes and weird angles. It’s not flashy, but nailing a streak of bullseyes gives you that same little rush as stacking blocks perfectly in Tetris. Weirdly zen for a game about shooting paper targets.

If you’ve got the patience for it, this is one of those SNES deep cuts that makes you appreciate how satisfying pure mechanics can be. Just don’t expect fireworks—unless you count the tiny pixel explosion when you finally ace the expert course.
