So, Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse is one of those SNES gems that somehow makes you forget how ridiculous the premise is—Mickey’s out here rescuing Pluto from King Pete (who’s basically just a big cartoon villain with a crown), but instead of just running and jumping, he’s swapping between these wild magical costumes. One turns him into a firefighter who can blast water, another’s a mountain climber with a grappling hook, and my personal favorite: the wizard robe that lets you float. It’s silly, but the way each costume changes how you move through levels is weirdly satisfying.

The first time I played, I got stuck on the forest stage because I didn’t realize the firefighter outfit could put out flaming logs. Classic 90s "figure it out yourself" design. The music’s cheery, the colors pop, and even though it’s not super hard, some of those later boss fights (looking at you, Pete in his hot air balloon) can get surprisingly tense. It’s short, but that just means you’ll probably replay it to find all the hidden goodies. Definitely holds up better than most licensed games from that era.
