Game Overview

Majiang E'mo Ta - Devilish Mahjong Tower is one of those weird little Genesis games that somehow makes mahjong feel like an action movie. You start at the bottom of this creepy tower, matching tiles against these smug AI opponents who clearly think they're better than you. The first few floors lull you into thinking it's just classic mahjong—then suddenly the game starts throwing curveballs, like tiles that vanish if you don't grab them fast enough.

The whole thing has this grungy '90s arcade vibe, from the over-the-top sound effects when you clear a match to the way the tower gets progressively weirder as you climb. I lost way too much time trying to beat the third-floor boss, this grinning demon who kept stealing my best tiles. Not gonna lie, the satisfaction when you finally topple one of those jerks is unreal.

If you dig obscure retro games with personality (and don't mind getting mildly obsessed), this one's a trip. Just bring patience—some of those later levels are downright evil.
