Play MapleStory DS (J) Online
Pick a class, whack some slimes, and explore a tiny MapleStory world—it’s got that classic charm but fits in your pocket. The touchscreen combat feels weird at first, then clicks when you nail combos on those goofy mushrooms.

MapleStory DS is basically the handheld version of the classic PC MMO, but with its own little quirks. You start by picking one of four classes—I went with the warrior because swinging a giant sword never gets old—and then you're tossed into this cute, chibi-style world that feels like a condensed version of the original.
The controls take a second to get used to since it's all touchscreen and buttons, but once you figure out the combos, smacking slimes and mushrooms feels pretty satisfying. There’s a surprising amount of story here too, with NPCs actually having dialogue and side quests that aren’t just "kill X monsters." The pixel art still holds up, and the music’s got that nostalgic MapleStory charm.
It’s not as deep as the online version, but for a DS RPG, it’s way more fun than I expected. Just don’t go in thinking it’s a full MMO—it’s more like a pocket-sized adventure with familiar vibes.
