Play Marvelous - Mouhitotsu no Takarajima (Japan) Online
You sail between islands with a pirate crew, digging up treasure and solving puzzles—feels like Zelda but with more rope-swinging and map-deciphering chaos. That SNES jank gives it weird charm.

Game Overview
Marvelous: Mouhitotsu no Takarajima is this weird little SNES gem that feels like a Zelda game got lost at sea. You can totally tell it's Aonuma's first directing gig—there's that same top-down adventure vibe as Link to the Past, but with pirates and treasure hunting instead of Hyrule. The controls are a bit clunky at first, but once you get used to swinging ropes and digging up buried loot, it clicks.
What's cool is how the game makes you manage your crew—some guys are better at fighting, others at sailing, and you're constantly swapping them out. I remember getting stuck for ages because I didn't realize I needed the right crewmate to decipher a map. The whole thing has this charming, slightly janky feel that makes it way more interesting than your average Zelda clone.
It never got an official English release, which is a shame because the pixel art holds up surprisingly well for a 90s deep cut.
