I picked up Mazinger Z for the Super Nintendo back in 1993, a game developed by Winky Soft. It was one of those side-scrolling action titles that felt pretty standard for the era, based on the popular anime. You control Mazinger Z, fighting through stages filled with enemy robots sent by Dr. Hell. Your main goal is to clear each level and defeat the boss waiting at the end. The signature mechanics involve using the Rocket Punch, which you have to time carefully because you lose your main weapon until it returns, and the chest beam, which is powerful but limited.
