Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is the real deal—finally bringing proper stealth action to the PSP after those card-based Ac!d spin-offs. You’re Big Boss again, six years after Snake Eater, waking up in a Colombian prison with no backup. At least until you bust out with a scrappy new ally and start building your own mercenary army from scratch.

The sneaking feels just like the console games—peeking around corners, choking out guards, even the CQC moves from Snake Eater. But the missions are bite-sized, perfect for quick sessions. Clear a base in five minutes, extract some supplies, and bail. Then come back later when you need more ammo or want to kidnap a specialist for your crew.

Oh yeah, kidnapping. That’s the twist here. Knock out enemy soldiers, drag them to your truck (slowly… so slowly), and convince them to join you. Doctors heal faster, spies reveal hidden gear, and technicians cook up new gadgets. Some missions practically solve themselves if you infiltrate as a disguised guard instead of Snake. Just don’t get too attached—your recruits can permanently die if you’re careless.

It’s got that classic Metal Gear mix of ridiculous gadgets and surprisingly deep systems. I lost hours just optimizing my squad between missions. And the multiplayer? Absolute chaos with six players sneaking, sniping, and betraying each other over WiFi. Still holds up if you’ve got a PSP and a friend willing to dig theirs out of a drawer.
