Game Overview

Mickey Mousecapade came out for the NES in 1987, developed by Hudson Soft. It was one of those early Disney platformers that tried to capture the magic of the cartoons, but it definitely had its own quirks. Back then, licensed games were hit or miss, and this one landed somewhere in the middle; not a standout, but not entirely forgettable either.

You control Mickey, with Minnie following close behind as a second character you can't directly command. The goal is to rescue a kidnapped girl by navigating through side scrolling stages, fighting off enemies like bats and ghosts. You attack by throwing stars, which have limited range, and you need to keep Minnie safe because if she gets hit too many times, you lose a life. The levels are short but packed with sudden enemy spawns and tricky jumps, making it harder than it looks. It feels a little stiff and unpredictable, but there's a strange charm in pushing through its rough edges.
