Mickey's Speedway USA is this weirdly fun little kart racer on the Game Boy Color where Mickey and the gang chase down Pete’s weasel goons after they kidnap Pluto. You’ve got all the usual suspects—Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy—each with their own slightly different handling, though honestly, I always stuck with Donald because his kart felt a little less floaty.
The tracks are these condensed versions of U.S. landmarks, like the Golden Gate Bridge or the Grand Canyon, which is cute for a handheld game. The controls take a second to get used to—drifts feel stiff at first, but once you figure out the timing, you can shave off some serious seconds. And yeah, there’s power-ups, because of course there are: speed boosts, homing missiles, the usual kart chaos.
It’s not gonna dethrone Mario Kart, but for a Disney-themed racer on the GBC, it’s way more playable than it has any right to be. Just don’t expect Pluto to thank you after all that trouble.
