Midnight Club: L.A. Remix on PSP is basically the little sibling of the console version, but don’t let that fool you—it’s got way more going on than you’d expect. The city’s wide open from the start, so you can just cruise around LA, dodging traffic and scoping out races instead of being stuck on rigid tracks. And yeah, it’s not just midnight anymore—you’ll actually see the sun sometimes, which is a nice change.

First thing you’ll notice? The cars handle differently when it rains, and if you smash into too many lampposts (which, let’s be honest, you will), your ride starts limping like it’s got a death wish. Repair bills add up fast, so maybe ease off the reckless driving… or don’t, if you’re into that. Bikes are an option too, and they’re stupidly fast but also stupidly easy to wreck. The races get wild, especially when you unlock the faster cars and realize half the challenge is not yeeting yourself into oncoming traffic.

It’s not perfect—some textures look like they’re from 2005 (because they are)—but for a PSP racer, it holds up better than most. Just try not to rage-quit when some AI driver pit-maneuvers you into a dumpster.
