Midwinter II: Flames of Freedom was one of those ambitious Amiga games that tried to do everything—open-world strategy, real-time combat, even a bit of flight sim. You start off leading a resistance group on this frozen island, scrambling for weapons and recruits while the clock ticks down. The scale was insane for its time, though good luck figuring out the controls without the manual.
Disk 2 picks up where the first left off, with more missions, vehicles, and that same mix of tension and freedom. I remember spending hours just flying the glider, scouting enemy bases before botching the landing every single time. It’s janky, but there’s nothing else quite like it.
