Game Overview
Midwinter II: Flames of Freedom was one of those ambitious Amiga games that tried to do everything—open-world strategy, real-time tactics, even a bit of survival. You start off leading a resistance group on this frozen island, scrambling for supplies while dodging enemy patrols. The scale was huge for its time, though the controls could be a little clunky if you weren’t patient.
Disk 3 was where things really opened up—by then, you’ve got vehicles, recruits, and a map full of hidden bases to raid. The weather actually mattered too; blizzards would slow you down, and night missions felt tense as hell. It’s janky in places, but there’s still nothing quite like it.
