Play Minefield Online
You guide a block through a grid of hidden mines, sweating over every step—one wrong move and boom, back to the start. Those retro beeps somehow make the tension even worse (in the best way).

Minefield came out in 1983 for arcades, a game by K. Kitamura that fit right in with the straightforward, high-score focused titles of the time. It didn't rely on flashy graphics or a complex story; it was just you, a grid, and a whole lot of hidden danger. The cabinet was simple, the controls were minimal, and the objective was brutally clear from the moment you dropped in your coin.
You control a small cursor, moving it one square at a time across a field of invisible mines. Your goal is to navigate from the safe starting zone all the way to the exit on the opposite side without triggering an explosion. The core mechanic is pure deduction; you have to carefully probe the grid, using the numbered clues that appear to indicate how many mines are adjacent to a revealed square. The pacing is tense and deliberate, forcing you to stop and think before every single move. One miscalculation sends you back to the beginning instantly, making progress feel like a hard-won victory. It feels like walking a tightrope in the dark, where every step is a calculated risk.
