Konami released The Simpsons arcade game in 1991, a time when side scrolling beat 'em ups dominated arcades. It stood out because it let you and up to three friends play as the actual Simpson family, a novelty back then. The cabinet was always loud and colorful, drawing a crowd whenever someone dropped a quarter in.

You control Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa, each with a unique attack; Homer punches, Marge swings a vacuum cleaner, Bart skateboards, and Lisa attacks with a jump rope. The goal is to fight through waves of enemies screen by screen to rescue Maggie from Mr. Burns. You pick up food for health and can perform team up moves with another player for massive damage. The game moves fast and gets pretty tough, especially when the screen fills with enemies. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, like you're playing through a particularly unhinged episode of the show.
