Mines of Minos came out for the Atari 2600 in 1982, developed by Data Age. It was one of those games that tried to bring a more methodical, maze based challenge to a system often filled with straightforward arcade style action. You don't see many games from that era with its particular mix of strategy and tension.

You control a small mining robot trapped in a multi screen labyrinth. Your goal is to find and collect all the scattered robot parts to reassemble yourself and escape. You navigate the maze screen by screen, placing timed bombs to destroy walls and blockades, but you must also avoid or outmaneuver the monsters that patrol the corridors. The pacing is deliberate; you have to plan your bomb placements carefully, because a mistimed explosion can leave you cornered or destroy a needed path. It feels like a tense game of cat and mouse where every decision matters.
