Play Missile Command (USA, Europe) Online

Tapping frantically to shoot down missiles before they hit your cities—that slow cursor makes every second count, and when your last turret overheats, panic sets in. The tiny screen somehow makes those explosions feel even more intense.

Game Overview

I picked up Missile Command for the Game Boy back in 1992, a portable version of the arcade classic published by Atari Corporation. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the small screen, a straightforward but tense experience you could carry in your pocket. In an era full of platformers and puzzle games, it stood out for its simplicity and directness.

You control a crosshair with the D-pad, moving it across the sky to fire anti-missile batteries at incoming warheads. Your goal is to protect six cities at the bottom of the screen from being destroyed. Each turret has limited ammunition and can overheat if fired too rapidly, so you have to manage your shots carefully. The pace is relentless; waves of missiles descend faster and in more complex patterns as you progress. It feels like a race against time, every decision critical, and the satisfaction of clearing a screen is always followed by the dread of the next attack.
