Game Overview

Missile Command on the Game Boy Color came out in 1999, published by Hasbro Interactive. It was part of that wave of classic arcade ports that filled out the handheld's library, a straightforward adaptation that didn't try to reinvent the formula. You got what you expected: a portable version of a well-known game, no more and no less.

You control a crosshair, moving it with the D-pad to aim your anti-missile batteries. Your goal is to protect six cities at the bottom of the screen from an endless barrage of incoming missiles and bombers. The key mechanics are managing your limited supply of missiles, timing your shots to intercept clusters of threats, and using smart bombs to clear the screen in a pinch. The pacing is relentless; waves come faster and more complexly as you progress, demanding quick decisions and precise aim. It feels like a constant, tense calculation of risk and resource management until the inevitable end.
