Play Moonsweeper Online

Dodge solar flares and alien fire to rescue miners from Jupiter’s moons—your torpedoes are limited, and those spinning satellites don’t play nice. Landing feels tense every time, especially when your shields eat into your score.

Game Overview

Moonsweeper came out for the Atari 2600 in 1983, developed by Robert C. Polaro and published by Data Age. It was one of those games that tried to do something a little different on the system, focusing on space exploration and rescue rather than just shooting everything in sight.

You pilot a small ship across the surface of Jupiter's moons, navigating a maze of caverns and platforms. Your goal is to locate and rescue stranded miners while avoiding alien ships, solar flares, and spinning satellites. You have a limited supply of torpedoes to clear obstacles and defend yourself, and each landing consumes your shield energy, which directly reduces your final score. The game moves at a deliberate pace, demanding careful navigation and resource management. It feels tense and strategic, especially when low on torpedoes or shields with miners still waiting.
