Play Mortal Kombat II - Kyuukyoku Shinken (Japan) on gb Online
Tiny sprites, big violence—somehow they squeezed spine rips and fireballs onto the Game Boy. That eerie "Toasty!" still gives me chills.

Game Overview
Okay, so Mortal Kombat II on Game Boy is this weird little miracle—somehow they crammed the arcade bloodbath into a tiny gray cartridge. The sprites are about the size of ants, and yeah, it’s missing some flash, but you can still rip out spines and set people on fire. That’s the important part.
What surprised me? It’s got all the secret stuff—Reptile’s hiding in there, and the fatalities actually work (though good luck seeing the gory details). The controls take some getting used to—button-mashing won’t save you here—but nailing Scorpion’s spear combo on a bus ride feels stupidly satisfying. And that creepy Toasty! voice clip? Still haunts my dreams.
It’s not perfect, but there’s something charming about how hard it tries. Liu Kang’s bicycle kick somehow looks even more ridiculous in black-and-white. If you’ve got nostalgia for pixelated violence, this one’s a weird little time capsule.
