MTX Mototrax came out on the PlayStation Portable in 2006, a time when portable motocross games were still finding their footing. Developed by Left Field Productions and published by Activision, it was a solid attempt to bring the energy of console off-road racing to the smaller screen, offering a decent mix of arcade fun and career progression without overcomplicating things.

You control a motocross rider, starting from the bottom in local dirt races and working your way up through various competitions. The main objective is to win events, earn cash, and upgrade your bike's performance and appearance. Signature mechanics include performing mid-air tricks like backflips and heelclickers for style points, and a track editor that lets you build custom courses from scratch. The pacing is fairly quick, with races that are challenging but rarely feel unfair. It feels like a satisfying, pick-up-and-play racer that captures the chaotic fun of motocross without demanding too much commitment.
