Mystical came out for the Amiga in 1990, developed by Infogrames Europe. It was one of those vertical scrollers that felt right at home on the platform, offering a straightforward fantasy adventure without a lot of the bloat or complexity you sometimes saw in other games from that era.
You play as a magician who moves upward through each stage, avoiding or blasting enemies with a limited supply of spells. Your main goal is simply to survive and climb as high as you can, collecting scrolls and potions along the way to boost your power or restore health. The screen scrolls automatically, so you’re always under pressure to keep moving and make quick decisions. It’s a simple, sometimes unforgiving game that captures that classic arcade feel of trying to beat your own high score.
