Play Mystical Ninja 2 Starring Goemon Online

Swing your pipe as Goemon, bouncing between quirky towns and sneaky dungeons where you’ll fight sumo wrestlers, solve dumb little puzzles, and somehow end up piloting a giant robot. It’s all weirdly charming, like someone mashed up Zelda with a Japanese comedy sketch.

Game Overview

Mystical Ninja 2 is one of those N64 gems that never got enough love. You play as Goemon, this weirdly charming ninja with a pipe, bouncing between towns, dungeons, and open fields that feel way bigger than they should on the N64. The humor’s totally Japanese—expect giant robots, ridiculous dialogue, and a villain who’s probably just misunderstood.

At first, it feels like a Zelda clone, but then you realize half the fun is just messing around with the goofy side characters and their weird abilities. The combat’s simple, but the levels have these little puzzles that make you stop and think (or occasionally throw your controller when you miss an obvious switch). And that soundtrack? Unironically great—peppy shamisen tunes that somehow fit a game where you fight a sumo wrestler on a floating island.

It’s janky in that late-’90s way, but that’s part of the charm. If you ever wanted a game where you ride a giant cat through feudal Japan, this is it.
