NBA Hang Time came out for the Super Nintendo in 1996, developed by Midway. It was one of those late-era SNES sports games that tried to push the hardware a bit further, building on the over-the-top style Midway was known for with NBA Jam.

You control a team of NBA players, or you can create your own custom characters with wild hair and big heads. The goal is to win basketball games by outscoring the opponent, but the real fun comes from the exaggerated moves: you can perform massive dunks from half-court, throw alley-oops, and even go on fire after making several shots in a row. The game moves fast, and the computer opponents can feel brutally unfair on higher difficulties, stealing the ball or blocking shots with uncanny timing. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, like playing a cartoon version of basketball where the rules barely matter.
