Need for Speed: ProStreet came out on the PlayStation Portable in 2007, developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. It was part of that wave of PSP racers that tried to bring a more serious, structured feel to handheld driving, moving a bit away from the pure arcade style a lot of us were used to on the go.

You control a street racer aiming to dominate a series of official racing events, working your way up through different tiers and car classes. The main objective is to win races, earn cash, and upgrade your vehicle to take on faster opponents. Key mechanics include managing your car's damage during events, since heavy impacts can end your race early, and competing in several distinct event types like grip races, drag battles, and speed challenges. The game can feel unforgiving; one major mistake often means a restart, especially in elimination-style modes where the last car at each checkpoint is removed. It feels tense and demanding, pushing you to balance aggression with precision just to stay in the competition.
