A key mechanic is the power-up system; defeated carriers drop icons that cycle through different weapon types, and you must grab them at the exact moment your desired weapon is displayed. Another is the option, a smaller satellite ship that follows your movements and doubles your firepower, but can be lost if you take a hit. The pacing is measured, demanding careful positioning and timing over frantic button mashing. It feels like a tense, strategic duel where every mistake has clear consequences.
