Play NHL '95 (Europe) Online
Pixel-perfect hockey chaos—body checks land with a crunch, fights break out if you button mash too hard, and those SNES goalies will rob you blind on breakaways. Managing lines in season mode feels weirdly intense for 16-bit.

NHL '95 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1994, developed and published by Electronic Arts. It was one of the stronger hockey titles on the SNES, arriving at a time when sports games were really starting to find their footing on home consoles. The presentation was clean, the teams were all there, and it just felt like a solid, complete package for hockey fans at the time.
You control a five man unit on the ice, switching between players with the press of a button, all with the goal of outscoring your opponent. Signature mechanics include manual goalie control, which lets you take direct command of the netminder to make desperation saves, and one timer shots, which require precise timing to pull off effectively. The pacing is fast, almost frantic at times, especially when trying to break through the neutral zone against a tough defense. It feels responsive and immediate, a game where your decisions with the controller translate directly to action on the ice.
