Play Nintendo World Cup (REV 3) (EU) Online
Play over-the-top soccer matches with powerful shots and rough tackles.
Nintendo World Cup came out for the NES in 1991, developed by Technos Japan and published by Nintendo. It was part of that wave of sports games that tried to be more about fun than realism, fitting right in with the kind of quick, arcade-style experiences people expected on the system back then.
You pick a country and control all its players during matches, trying to score more goals than the opponent. The game lets you perform super shots that warp the ball past defenders, and you can slide tackle opponents to steal the ball, sometimes a bit violently. Matches are fast and the difficulty ramps up noticeably in later rounds, especially against CPU teams that hardly ever miss a shot. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, like a playground game where the rules are just suggestions.
