Game Overview

Nintendo World Cup on NES is that gloriously chaotic soccer game built for multiplayer mayhem. Back when the four-player adapter was new, this was clearly designed for friends to elbow each other IRL while their pixelated players did the same on-screen. Pick weird surfaces like ice or stone (the ball bounces like a mad thing), and good luck coordinating passes when everyone's just spamming tackles.

Single-player? You're thrown into a brutal World Cup gauntlet—Cameroon first, West Germany waiting to crush you in the final. Draws count as losses, because 1980s game design had zero mercy. You control one player at a time (pick wisely—the speedy guy's my go-to), shouting basic commands at AI teammates who mostly ignore you. The ref might as well not exist; slide-kicking the goalie is totally legal here. It's janky, unfair, and weirdly perfect for yelling at your cousin after school.
