Nintendogs: Shiba & Friends (J) came out in 2005 for the Nintendo DS, developed and published by Nintendo. It was part of that early wave of DS games that really leaned into the touchscreen and microphone, making you feel like you were holding something genuinely new.
You control a puppy, chosen from a few breeds including the Shiba Inu, and your main goal is just to care for it and build a bond. You use the stylus to pet it, scratch behind its ears, and teach it tricks by drawing shapes or saying commands into the mic. You take it on walks, enter disc competitions, and buy toys and supplies with prize money. The pacing is slow and relaxed; there's no way to fail, only to have a less responsive or happy dog if you ignore it for too long. It feels like having a cheerful, low-maintenance pet living in your pocket.
