Nippon Safes, Inc. is this weird little Amiga adventure game where you play as three totally different characters—a safecracker, a boxer, and a dancer—each with their own ridiculous storyline set in Tokyo. You pick who to start with, and honestly, I went with Donna the dancer first because, well, she seemed like she’d have the most entertaining problems to solve. (Turns out I was right.)
The whole thing feels like a comic book with its bright, cartoony art and an interface that’s just icons—no words. You click around, figure out puzzles specific to each character, and try not to laugh at the over-the-top Italian humor. It’s less about crime and more about stumbling into absurd situations. Once you finish all three stories, they actually team up for a finale, which is way more satisfying than I expected.
It’s janky in that old-school adventure game way, but the charm totally makes up for it.
