Nostalgia came out on the Nintendo DS in 2009, developed by Red Entertainment and published by Ignition Entertainment. It was part of that wave of late-era DS RPGs that tried to do something a little different with the hardware, offering a fully 3D world to explore from an airship, which was a neat technical trick for the system at the time.
You control Eddie, the young son of a famous adventurer, piloting your own customizable airship. The main goal is to travel the world, following your father's path and uncovering the secrets behind ancient civilizations. On the ground, you explore towns and dungeons in a first-person view, navigating screen by screen, solving environmental puzzles, and fighting random encounters. In the sky, the airship combat is turn-based; you target enemy vessel parts with cannons or magic, manage your energy shields, and try to disable them before they do the same to you. The pacing is deliberate, with a moderate difficulty that comes more from resource management in long dungeons than from brutal enemy stats. It feels like a comfortable, thoughtful adventure, where the joy comes from slowly mapping a new ruin or finally affording a better engine for your ship.
