Game Overview

If you've ever wanted to test your martial arts skills in pixelated combat, The Oriental Games on Amiga delivers—with a few quirks. You pick between three disciplines: Kung Fu (punches, kicks), Kendo (stick fighting), or the gloriously chaotic Kyo-Kus-Hin-Kai (headbutts, flying attacks). The controls take a second to click—tap fire to spin around mid-jump, which feels oddly satisfying once you nail it.

Your health bar drains fast if you’re sloppy, but it slowly refills if you play defensively. Pull off flashy moves, and you’ll earn bonus points—though half the time I was just button-mashing and hoping for the best. The 16-bit version lets you tweak joystick controls, while the 8-bit one throws in Sumo wrestling as a weird bonus (no idea why). The digitized grunts and thwacks sound like someone recorded them in a basement, but it adds charm.

It’s janky, but there’s something weirdly addictive about the rhythm of dodging and counterattacking. Just don’t expect deep strategy—this is pure arcade brawling with a side of 90s cheese.
