Game Overview

Oriental Legend is one of those arcade beat 'em ups that feels like it was pulled straight from an old-school wuxia flick. You pick from these wild martial artists—some throw fireballs, others swing giant swords—and just plow through waves of demons and bandits. The sprites are chunky and colorful, and the backgrounds have this hand-painted look that makes every stage feel like a scroll coming to life.

What I love is how over-the-top the special moves are. One character does this spinning kick that sends enemies flying off-screen, and another summons a literal dragon. It’s got that perfect arcade rhythm where you’re constantly juggling enemies between basic combos and screen-clearing magic attacks. Just don’t get too reckless—some of those late-game bosses hit like a truck.

If you’ve ever wasted quarters on games like Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara, this’ll feel familiar but with way more Taoist magic and less elves. The English translation’s a bit rough, but honestly, it adds to the charm.
