Game Overview

Over the Net was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games release, though details about its developer or publisher are sparse. It came out during a time when simple, two-player sports games were common on home computers, offering straightforward fun without much visual flair or complexity. You could count on these games to fill an afternoon, especially if you had a friend sitting next to you.

You control a volleyball player on a side-scrolling court, moving left and right to position yourself under the ball. The main goal is to hit the ball over the net and score points against your opponent, either the computer or a second player. Key mechanics include timing your jumps to spike or block, managing a limited field of movement, and reacting to the ball's somewhat floaty, unpredictable physics. Matches move quickly, and the difficulty can feel uneven depending on your opponent's AI or your friend's skill. It feels silly and frantic in the best way, especially when both players get into the physicality of it, leaning and reacting as if the screen had weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
