Pac-Land (J) is a weird little side-scroller where Pac-Man suddenly has legs and arms—which still feels odd after playing for a while. You're basically running left to right, dodging ghosts while escorting a fairy home, which is... not the plot I expected.
The controls are stiff, like you're sliding on ice half the time, and the jumping mechanics take some getting used to. The power pellets still turn ghosts blue, but the side-scrolling perspective makes chaining them harder than in the maze games.
It's charming in a janky way—seeing Pac-Man bounce on springboards over lakes or grab fruit mid-run. But the timer is brutal, and if you're too slow, a ghost just spawns and chases you down. Pac-Land (J) isn't bad, just different from what you'd expect from a Pac-Man game.
