Game Overview

I picked up Pac-Man: Special Color Edition for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a Namco release that felt right at home on the handheld. It was one of those straightforward ports that didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just gave you a solid, colorful version of the maze chase to play anywhere. In an era full of ambitious RPGs and platformers, it was a simple, reliable title you could always jump into for a few minutes.

You control Pac-Man, guiding him through a series of mazes to clear all the dots while avoiding four ghosts. The main goal is to survive as long as possible, eating power pellets to temporarily turn the tables and chase the ghosts yourself. The game progresses screen by screen, with the pace gradually increasing after level five, making evasion much more tense. It feels sharp and responsive, a classic arcade experience condensed perfectly for on-the-go play.
