Game Overview

I remember playing Jeopardy! Junior Edition on the NES back in 1989. It was developed by Rare and published by GameTek, a straightforward adaptation of the TV show aimed at a younger audience. On a console filled with platformers and action games, it stood out as one of the few trivia titles, a quiet alternative to the more frantic cartridges we usually rented.

You control a cursor to select dollar amounts from a category grid, just like the show. The main objective is to type out your responses, phrased as questions, before the other players or the clock runs out. The signature mechanics are the wagering in Final Jeopardy and the three player support, which made it a decent party game. The pacing is slow, dictated entirely by how fast you can hunt and peck on the NES controller, and the difficulty is manageable for its intended age group. It feels like a faithful, if slightly clunky, translation of sitting in front of the television with a notepad.
