I picked up Pac-Man: Special Colour Edition for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a Namco release that gave the arcade classic a portable home. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the GBC, simple and quick to jump into during short breaks or long waits.

You control Pac-Man, guiding him through maze after maze to clear all the dots while avoiding four colorful ghosts. The main goal is to survive as long as possible, chomping power pellets to turn the tables and eat the ghosts for bonus points. The mazes scroll screen by screen, and some layouts are new twists on the familiar arcade originals. The pacing stays frantic, especially as the ghosts speed up in later stages. It feels satisfyingly tense and rewarding when you clear a tricky board.
