Paperboy (U) on NES is one of those games that seems simple until you actually play it. You're just a kid on a bike tossing newspapers, but the neighborhood is out to get you—dogs, random tires, even tornadoes show up to ruin your route.

The controls feel stiff at first, like your bike has a mind of its own, and hitting the right houses takes weirdly precise timing. Miss a throw, and your customer gets mad. Hit a non-subscriber’s window, though? Weirdly satisfying.

It’s chaotic in a way that makes you want one more try, even when you keep crashing into the same parked car over and over. Paperboy (U) doesn’t hold your hand, and that’s kind of the charm.
