Play Phantom Fighter Online
NES beat 'em up based on Mr. Vampire—play as a Taoist priest punching ghosts across haunted villages. Simple combat with hidden power-ups and eerie 8-bit charm.

Phantom Fighter came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Marigul Management. It was one of those late-era NES games that tried something a little different, drawing from Chinese folklore and horror movies instead of the usual fantasy or sci-fi settings common on the platform at the time.
You control a Taoist priest who must clear villages of supernatural threats by fighting ghosts, hopping vampires, and other monsters. The main goal is to explore each area screen by screen, defeating every enemy to progress. Combat is straightforward, relying on punches and kicks, but you can find hidden power-ups like talismans to temporarily boost your attack or defense. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a slow, deliberate hunt through a spooky world where every new screen could hide a nasty surprise.
