Picnic on the Atari 2600 is one of those weirdly charming games where you’re just trying to enjoy a meal, but the universe has other plans. You’ve got two hamburgers sitting at the bottom corners of the screen, and suddenly—boom—flies everywhere. Your only weapon? A tiny fly swatter you move back and forth.

The flies aren’t just buzzing around—they’re hungry. They’ll dart in, stick out their gross little tongues, and start chomping your burgers if you don’t smack them at just the right moment. Time it right, and they drop into your fly trap. Miss, and well… let’s just say your picnic’s looking less appetizing.

Clear out the regular flies, and then comes the real menace: a giant super fly that moves faster and eats way more aggressively. It’s surprisingly tense for a game about swatting bugs. Once you take it down, the cycle starts again—but with more flies, more speed, and fewer burgers left standing.

It’s simple, but there’s something satisfying about nailing the timing just right before your food disappears entirely.
