Picnic came out for the Atari 2600 in 1982, published by Atari themselves. It was one of those simple, straightforward games from the early console era, built around a single idea without much fuss. You didn't get elaborate stories or deep mechanics back then; you got a clear task and a joystick, and that was often enough.

You control a small picnic basket at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right. Your goal is to swat flies away from your food using a tiny flyswatter. The flies descend in waves, and if too many land on your picnic items, a giant super fly appears and ruins everything. The game moves quickly, demanding sharp reflexes to clear each wave before the next one dives. It feels frantic but satisfying when you manage to keep your picnic intact for just a little longer.
