Solve nonogram puzzles by filling in squares based on clues, revealing pixel art from the Star Fox series in Picross NP Vol. 4 for SNES.
Picross NP Vol. 4 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1999, published by Nintendo. It was part of a special series released late in the SNES lifecycle, aimed at players who subscribed to Nintendo Power in Japan. This volume, like the others, focused entirely on nonogram puzzles, a type of picture logic game that remained popular even as newer consoles arrived.
You don't control a character; instead, you use the D-pad to move a cursor across a grid, filling or marking empty squares based on numerical clues at the edges of each row and column. The goal is to reveal a hidden pixel image, which in this volume are all themed around characters and elements from the Star Fox series. Key mechanics include using the A button to fill a square and the B button to place an X (indicating a space that must remain empty), with larger puzzles requiring careful deduction to avoid errors. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty ramps up significantly as grid sizes increase, demanding patience and logical focus. It feels satisfying to watch a familiar shape slowly take form through your own deductions.
