Platoon (VS) is an NES action game that tries to capture the tension of the Vietnam War film. You switch between five soldiers, each with just three hits before they're gone—which makes every ambush feel desperate.

The jungle section is clunky but tense, with enemies popping out of tall grass while you navigate narrow paths. The first-person tunnel part is where things get weird—controls shift suddenly between movement, aiming, and searching rooms, and it's easy to fumble.

Night defense in the bunker is the highlight. You've got limited flares to spot enemies creeping in the dark, and the panic of hearing footsteps but not seeing them holds up. The final fight against Barnes is frustrating—landing five grenade hits in a tiny space feels more luck than skill.

Platoon (VS) nails the atmosphere but fights its own controls as much as the enemy.
