Game Overview

Pocket Puyo Puyo 2 Tsuu came out for the Game Boy in 1995, developed by Compile. It was a portable version of the popular puzzle game, fitting right in with the era's love for quick, engaging titles you could play anywhere. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just gave you the core experience in your pocket.

You control a cursor to drop pairs of colored blobs called Puyos into a well. The main goal is to connect four or more of the same color to clear them and send nuisance Puyos to your opponent's screen. The signature mechanics are setting up chain reactions, where clearing one group makes others fall into new matches, and countering the garbage blocks your opponent sends by quickly clearing your own. The pacing is fast, and the AI can be punishingly good, making every match tense. It feels like a constant battle of wits where one mistake can bury you.
