Play Pocket Monsters Online
You guide these chunky little Pokémon through maze-like stages, dodging weird enemies and solving puzzles that feel like they were designed by someone who only half-remembered how Pokémon works. The whole thing’s got that janky, early-90s charm where Pikachu moves like he’s stuck in a bootleg Sonic level.

Pocket Monsters on the Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive, was an unofficial release from 1996, not developed or published by Nintendo or Game Freak. It arrived during a period when the console was still active, but its library was largely defined by established franchises and arcade ports, making this bootleg a strange, unexpected curiosity for players who stumbled upon it.
You control a small selection of pixelated Pokémon, navigating them through single-screen stages filled with obstacles and enemies that must be avoided or outmaneuvered. The main goal is simply to reach the exit of each stage, which often involves pushing blocks, timing movements around hazards, and figuring out rudimentary environmental puzzles. Movement is stiff and imprecise, giving the action a clumsy, unpredictable feel; the challenge comes less from clever design and more from wrestling with the controls. It feels like playing a very earnest, very confused imitation of something you actually like.
