Team Rocket actually fights dirty in this Kanto remake—you’ll switch between Red, Blue, and Green while uncovering manga-inspired twists that get surprisingly intense for a Pokémon game. The battles feel tougher, and Beta 7 finally irons out most of the jank.
Pokémon Adventure: Red Chapter (Beta 7) feels like someone took the original Pokémon Red and cranked up the intensity. It’s still Kanto, but Team Rocket actually feels threatening, and the story goes way beyond "become the champion." You’ll run into plot twists ripped straight from the Pokémon Adventures manga—some of them surprisingly dark for a Pokémon game.
The best part? You’re not stuck playing as Red the whole time. At certain points, you take control of Blue or Green, which keeps things from getting stale. Beta 7 smooths out a lot of the rough edges from earlier versions, though you’ll still run into the occasional fan-game quirk. If you’ve ever wanted a Pokémon game with actual stakes and a story that doesn’t treat you like a kid, this is it.
Just don’t expect it to hold your hand—some of those boss fights will wreck you if you’re not prepared.
